Today we added to our spreadsheet functions by learning new Validation techniques and Conditional Formatting. the validation tools allowed me to make the test spreadsheet better for data input and output.

Today we looked at DSS which are Decision Support Systems and how they affect businesses and customers decision making.
We also looked at EIS which are Executive Information Systems and how they help more senior managers of businesses make decisions etc.

Today we looked at MIS and how it can help the managers make decisions about the business. Again I have already looked at this on my previous business course, but it was useful for the refresher.
We have created a powerpoint on MIS and have related it to the Fitness centre for the Assignment.

Today we are looking at the DPA and how it effects IT. I have already studied the DPA in numerous other subjects and in school at GCSE, but it was a good refersher to go over this important act again.

Data and Information

Today we looked at Data and how it can be formed into useful Information. It was also a good refresher for me to remind myself of the difference between the two.

Data is raw figures, or items of text which represent an event/events.

Information is processed data, which has a readable and understandable meaning.

My Gantt Chart

I have created a Gantt Chart based on my Goals (Objectives, Aims and Ambitions). I will now relate them to my own Training Needs, which were Teamwork and Time Management, and My Learning Styles, which were Kinaesthetic and Visual.

As regards Teamwork, I need to improve my ability to communicate amongst my team members. This is due to the fact that I often work alone, so when I am needed for team tasks, my communication about my work can sometimes let me down.
The issue with my Time Management is that I don’t prioritise enough and struggle to prioritise when two tasks need to be completed at the same time.

My learning style was a mixture between Kinaesthetic and Visual, as I prefer more hands-on approach with diagrams and pictured instructions or watching someone else then trying it out for myself.

My First Goal was the Objective to pass the course or get close to doing so, by the end of the first year. to do this I will use my learning styles to pick up the knowledge that I need to get the work done. For example when learning about Gantt charts I watched the tutors example and tried to do one for myself, which was successful. I must also start planning and keeping on top of the workload, which will ensure that I overcome my Time Management trouble. Also I will have to improve my ability to work with others, overcomiong my Teamwork issues, which I have previously identified.

My next Goal was the Aim to get into a good university and follow on to get a job in the I.T industry. Here I will have a good mindset for Time Keeping after improving on it whilst at college. Also, my Teamwork skills are already improving, which will make it easier to work in a professional team, in an I.T role.

Finally my last goal was the Ambition to live comfortably in a well paid job, with a good retirement plan.

My Life and What's to follow...

In today's lesson we are looking at Life goals, by thinking up some Objectives, which are short term goals, Aims, which are Medium term goals and Ambitions, which are goals that span your lifetime. Later on I will be relating these Goals to my Learning Styles and Training Needs.

My own Goals

Objectives

* I wish to pass the coarse or get close to doing so, by the end of the first year.

Aims

* I would like to finish the I.T coarse and either go on to get a job in I.T, or go to a university to follow I.T in further education.

Ambitions

* When I get older I would like to have a comfortable life style, in a well-paid job.
